Pride,
The final act before the fall
To strive for perfection
And lose it all.
To start low
And rise above
to abandon sorrow
And lose all love
The best villains are always right
Misunderstood and hated
A broken truth, not without light
Good and evil are related.
Wax wings, the fallen angel
A truth and a myth
I know all too well the devil,
That I dance with
If too perfect does exist
Then any less is ugliness
If truth is at its realest
What fault lies in hubris?
This is why power belongs to none
We whore for our own perfection.
Wings that take us beneath the sun
Not even Lucifer escaped his sin.
I know what is right
But I want what’s evil
Called to shine light
But withhold reprieval
Professing love for neighbor,
And saying I am meek
When it’s people that I abhor
And their destruction that I seek
Love and mercy
Are my confessions
But pain and misery
Teach better lessons
Scars don’t heal
But help remember
The hatred I feel
For relations I’d dismember
Other’s disgust me
I know I’m one of them
My pride I’ll destroy
But them I’ll condemn
