It’s not surprising,
When you say I don’t know you
When that’s all I try to do.

You define what I am,
As if I can’t do that myself.
I never do that to you,
Just help you do it for yourself.

It only goes to show how little
You actually know me.
Because if you knew,
What I’ve been through,
You’d know that I see you.

You try to put distance
That was already there.
Try to put me in place,
When I never moved.

I never said we were the same
I’m just trying to understand you.

You don’t want to recognize me,
Then I’ll just be a stranger.
If we’re so different,
Then I guess you’re right.

I don’t even want to fight,
I’m used to being ignored,
I’ve been invisible before.

So, I’ll just be a ghost.
Presently absent.
A spirit with no host.

I know we’re not the same,
But I see you,
More than you see me.
